You all must be familiar with the different incidents that took place of setting ablaze a group of criminals and crooks, that tried to loot away from a group of pedestrians. Seriously hearing about it, sent chills down my spine, not that I am a criminal. But what has gone wrong with people?
I agree that our Police force has never been upto any mark, but taking law into your own hands is not the answer. Even you consider it for one moment, one may consider that beating up the culprit would have been a justifiable reaction, but setting him on fire! Isn’t that equal to murder and under section 300 is subjected to punishments like 25 years of imprisonment or even capital punishment.
Adding to my further bewilderment were the comments of the people out there.
‘ If the government won’t take action against such things, public has to stand up for themselves.’
I mean standing up is one thing but standing up and killing, thats way off the hook.
The objections to this discussion would be that what if the criminal kills you instead, then is that justified? Well who said so! That is obviously very wrong indeed but then again they are criminals. You catch them up and hand it over to authorities – Your Job is Done.
Then a fellow of mine diverted my attention on the corruption of our law enforcement agencies, and the ease with which these criminals get bail.
‘What if they get bail and come to find you?’
A very nice aspect indeed of how things are run in this world. That led me speechless for days, thinking about what to say to hold an argument in my favour. Then it came to me i.e. a lack of unity and faith in our nation. I mean think about it. We are more of an individuals rather than being a nation and most of us (I may myself be on that list) have completely forgotten our religious practices and teachings, in satisfying our materialistic needs. I mean calling up my friends and going out seems more important to me then saying my prayers ( I hope this thing motivates me, as well as other individuals to think the right way).
In such a society, one is not only selfish but also greedy to win the ‘rat race’. Some chose the right way, though some go for the wrong ones. But you must realise that as an individual, its your job to understand yours and your society’s flaws and try to eradicate them to whatever extent you can. Taking law into your hands is not the answer. Why not you join the law enforcement forces instead and take the stand. Atleast your inner guilt won’t kill you that way. There are elements that will harm you in every field of life. In the end, its all about personal satisfaction.
